South East Leisure Welcomes Three New Board Members, Including New Chair

South East Leisure (SEL) is excited to announce the appointment of three new Board Members, bringing a wealth of experience and leadership to SEL. The newly appointed members include:

Kirstan Corben (Chair) – Kirstan Corben is a recognised leader in corporate governance and executive leadership across the health, community, and sport sectors in Victoria. She serves as Chair of Better Health Network, Director of South Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network, and has led impactful initiatives such as the Danny Frawley Centre, combining her extensive career in the health sector with a passion for driving social and health outcomes for communities.

John Nguyen – John Nguyen is a purpose-driven finance and risk executive with over 25 years of global experience across professional services and the corporate sector. A former partner at Deloitte and Ernst & Young, he now serves on the boards of Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust, and chairs key Audit & Risk Committees, combining expertise in governance, financial management, and large program delivery.

Caroline Patrick – Caroline Patrick is an accomplished executive and non-executive director with 25 years of experience in marketing, communications, and engagement across complex, highly regulated sectors. Caroline is currently Group Manager of Marketing, Communications, and Engagement at South East Water.

These esteemed professionals will join our current Board members, who have been instrumental in SEL’s growth and direction since its inception; Tim Cockayne, Dr. Malak Sukkar and Mick Jaensch.

Kirsten Corben said “improving the health and wellbeing of individuals and whole communities is what I’ve chosen to do with my life. Sport and fitness is such an incredible platform from which to do that. There are so many opportunities ahead for South East Leisure and I’m excited to be part of it.”

The SEL Board plays a pivotal role in driving SEL’s strategic direction, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, measurable, and purpose-driven outcomes for the City of Greater Dandenong community.

The collective expertise and guidance of the Board are critical in shaping SEL’s initiatives and fostering a positive impact for members and patrons. Kirstan, John and Caroline commenced in January 2025.
