South East Leisure (SEL) lifeguard Thomas Humphreys has delivered an extraordinary performance at Ironman Western Australia, finishing as the first Australian in all age groups, claiming 1st place in his category (18-24), and securing 4th place overall with an impressive time of 08:48:51.
Competing in Busselton, WA, under challenging conditions marked by strong winds and high humidity, Tom’s first-ever Ironman proved to be a debut to remember. “The swim leg felt like being in a washing machine,” Humphreys said, reflecting on the gruelling 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride, and 42.2km marathon run.
Tom’s remarkable effort earned him a sought after qualification spot for the Ironman World Championships in September 2025 to be held in Nice, France. However, the financial demands of competing on the global stage mean he will need to secure partnerships to make this dream a reality.
Undeterred, Tom has set his sights on the Port Macquarie Ironman on Sunday, May 4, where he plans to qualify for the World Championships once again.
Tom is seeking sponsorships and partnerships to support his journey to the Ironman World Championships in Nice, France in September 25.
